Home-Based Falls Prevention in Coastal and Rural Communities

The project

We’re excited to share our latest research project that builds on the success of Action Falls. This study will adapt the current care home offering for use in peoples own homes.

Work is already underway and we plan to finish at the end of 2029. This study is taking place in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire and we’re really keen on our beautiful rural and coastal areas being the main focus. Keep a look out for our posters and invitations to take part in upcoming interviews, workshops and trying the new programme out.

Our first step is to speak with older adults in rural and coastal communities to learn more about home care and how Action Falls needs to change to work at its best. We’re looking to talk to older people with home care, relatives, home care staff and service managers.

In this phase, we will be making changes to the Action Falls programme based on the feedback from phase 1. To make sure it works at its best, we will be asking older adults with home care and staff working in home care to come to some workshops.

It’s time to test out the new Action Falls programme! In this phase, we will be asking older adults with home care to try it out. We will be testing to see if the new Action Falls works better at reducing falls than what is currently being done.
