Action Falls Toolkit

shows the two manauls for action falls and the checklist

Changing practices can be challenging. Our research into implementing Action Falls across the UK highlighted some key challenges. That is why we developed this toolkit to help you build a case for using Action Falls in your Care Home.

Action Falls has been proven to be a cost-effective way of reducing the rate of falls in care homes without reducing residents’ activity or independence. This means it can bring about significant benefits to care home operators and residents.

As much as we want to, we just can’t provide training and support to everyone to use Action Falls. Instead, we have developed a Train the Trainer E-Learning course that’s provided by the University of Nottingham Online.

If you’re a nurse or allied health professional looking to support the use and implementation of Action Falls in care homes, click on “sign up”  in the menu bar or on the link below to enrol in our E-Learning.

React To Falls

Want more information on risk factors for falls and some actions you could take?

The React to Falls resources provide suggestions for the management of falls in care homes. Judgement should always be applied by care homes with regard to what is appropriate and acceptable for each individual resident. Further advice should be sought from appropriate professionals as required.

These React to Falls resources were developed by Professor Pip Logan, Dr Jane Horne, Dr Katie Robinson, Katherine Jones, Jane Balmbra and Kate Robertson in collaboration with clinical colleagues at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Crocodile House Ltd. They were recently updated by Will Lawry to reflect best practice.

Please note that we are aware of a bug in the app that is causing some actions to be misaligned with the risk factor. We are aiming to release an updated version of the app in the next 12 months.
